What Goes Into A Brivel Pole Elastic Connector...

1. The soft rubber, bullet-shaped buffer bead works both as a shock absorber and a protector. This bead will not cause any damage to the top pole section no matter how many times or how hard it hits the PTFE bush under force. The bead also protects the connecting knot to the internal barrel swivel.

2. The hybrid rolling barrel swivel has a diamond eye at one end and a round eye at the other end. The round end is for attaching the pole elastic, which will glide smoothly over the polished steel. The diamond eye will help to hold the soft braid in position and reduce friction.

3. Instead of Dacron, we use Braid because it's soft and supple. Spectra Extreme Braid is highly responsive because it hangs limp and direct, unlike Dacron, which is quite rigid and bouncy. We use a 1.5cm length of 30lb Braid, doubled and knotted with the trimmed ends being heat seared to prevent fraying. This Braid also has a very low water absorption capacity.

4. The final component of the Brivel Pole Elastic Connector is a tiny acrylic bead. This is fitted to the Braid and sits above the knot. It acts to protect the rig line from becoming embedded in the knot. It also provides the rig line with a smooth, non-abrasive base, on which to butt up against.
